Jason Easley was born in Charleston, WV and moved to Alexandria, VA during middle school. He attended Shepherd College (at the time) from August 1996 through May 2000 when he graduated. During his college career, he was a full-time student athlete and a member of the Men’s Basketball team. His former teammates would agree that he was a great teammate, one that worked cohesively with the team to deliver in multiple ways. He was a leader on and off the basketball court.
His drive and determination set examples for many who followed and looked up to him for guidance in various arenas. His insight and vision were demonstrated as a basketball player as well as the marketing business he ran. Jason had a strong passion for entrepreneurship. He started this craft while at Shepherd. He always put more than 100% into event planning, from inception to execution, working tirelessly all while he was a full-time student athlete. This is what Jason loved, apart from basketball.
Jason continued to evolve with this drive and became a marketing professional after graduating from Shepherd. He partnered with other business professionals to expound on the marketing and advertising services he developed from college. He expanded his business where he intensely focused on seeking out opportunities to assist other businesses in marketing their mission needs and providing them more visibility and exposure to showcase their services. In addition to growing his business base, Jason enjoyed spending time with family and friends, while using those opportunities to incorporate time to watch the latest basketball game.
Apart from his family and working his business, Jason truly loved watching and playing basketball. He enjoyed closely observing, keeping up with statistics, and following young basketball athletes through their professional career. Shepherd afforded Jason a remarkable opportunity to continue his basketball career after high school, which had an influence on how he evolved as a man and a professional.
This scholarship is an attempt to do the same, if not more, for future student athletes.
