In Helmet Coach-to-Player Communication Technology Campaign

A new NCAA Division II football rule allows in-helmet communication for both the quarterback and the middle linebacker. This change is quickly becoming standard across college football and will directly impact how efficiently teams communicate on both sides of the ball.

NCAA Rule:

Division II Update: Coach-to-Player Helmet Communication approved.

This communication serves as notice that the Division II members of the Playing Rules Oversight Panel voted to approve the permissive use of coach-to-player (C2P) communication, effective with the 2026 season. This action is being taken out of cycle to permit institutions that choose to utilize this technology time to prepare for the upcoming season.

To stay aligned with our competition and provide our student-athletes and coaches with the resources they need to succeed, we are working to implement this technology within our program.

We are asking for your support in funding this initiative. Your contributions will ensure that Shepherd Football remains competitive and continues to operate at the highest-level within our conference and region. The estimated cost of the in-helmet, player-to-coach communication technology is $13,831.83.

We appreciate your continued support of Coach McCook and the Ram Football Team.
